Okay so why is it that belief makes people so rigid? Is it fear? And if so, is it fear of losing power or fear of the unknown? Or just the fear of looking stupid? It can't be much fun to be clinging to the same life raft for the whole ride, just cause you're afraid of what's in the water.

A belief is just a set of concepts, so why get attached to it? Isn't that just a form of mental hoarding? You move up and down the same narrow tunnels, dragging in more and more of the same stuff, until you either get buried in all of it and vanish, or your mind simply collapses under all the weight. Surely, firm beliefs are dangerous to mental health?

I like to think of Andy in terms of possibility, like Schrödinger's cat, living and dead in equal parts, until observed. While the cat is in the box, it's a combination of all of the possible states that it can be and there is no way to tell what it is doing. You have to assume it's doing all the possible things, and is living and dead at the same time.

The box, of course, is just the mind. And the only real magic is in all that possibility. Beliefs won't change whatever Schrödinger's cat is up to. Should the box fly open, however, they'll only keep you from seeing what's truly there.
